Fishing is a side profession to combat. You cast your line into a lake or river, wait for the fish to bite, and win a timing and reflex minigame using two skills: Pumping and Reeling.
Each fish caught can be open and turns into materials (oils, scales, gems, and bones). These materials are exchanged for Proof of Catching a Fish, the Fishing Guild currency. With it you buy skills that increase the inventory, the warehouse, the private store and the recipe book.
Fishing also gives access to 9 quests, to the Fishing Shot and to the weekly championship Fishing King, which pays prizes in adena.
For those who just want to get started. The details of each step are in the following sections.
There's a Fishing Guild member in practically every town, always near water. They all offer the same services:
In-game fishing manual.
Fishing skills (paid in adena) and expansion skills (paid in Proof).
Rods, bait, fisher's potions, and the Fishing Manual.
Exchanges fish materials for Proof of Catching a Fish.
Ranking and prizes for the Fishing King championship.
Quest 426 (Fishing Shot) at all of them. The lure and chest quests are handled by specific NPCs.

The rod is equipped as a weapon. Each grade above adds +10% damage to Pumping and Reeling. Like any weapon, it suffers a penalty if the character doesn't have the required grade.
| Rod | Grade | Damage bonus | Base price |
|---|---|---|---|
| No grade | +0% | 30.000 adena | |
| D | +10% | 100.000 adena | |
| C | +20% | 400.000 adena | |
| B | +30% | 1.200.000 adena | |
| A | +40% | 4.000.000 adena | |
| S | +50% | 10.000.000 adena |
The bait goes in the shield slot and 1 unit is spent per cast, whether you catch it or not. The color defines which type of fish appears most often:
Attracts fish Nimble (agile).
Attracts fish Fat / Pudgy (fat).
Attracts fish Ugly (ugly).
| Lure | Where to get it | What you can fish |
|---|---|---|
| Fisherman's shop (50–70) | Only fish from beginner: 35 s of combat, much easier. | |
| Fisherman's shop (120–180) | Normal fish and, sometimes, treasure chests. | |
| Drops and rewards | Same as normal, but the fish bites slower (Low) or faster (High). | |
| Fisherman's shop (100–180) | Fish Upper Grade, that fool in the minigame. Only works at night. | |
| Fisherman's shop (100–240) | Fish larger, for the championship. There are normal, night and beginner versions. | |
| Quests 50–53 | Chests only. They are used in quests 27–30. | |
| Hot Springs | "Old Box" in the Hot Springs lakes. |
They work like soulshots, but for fishing: double the damage of the next Pumping or Reeling. The shot's grade needs to be the same as the rod. Enable automatic use with a right-click, just like a soulshot.
| Shot | Compatible rod | For 1 Sweet Fluid (Quest 426) |
|---|---|---|
| Baby Duck Rod | 66 shots | |
| Albatross Rod | 40 shots | |
| Pelican Rod | 28 shots | |
| KingFisher Rod | 8 shots | |
| Cygnus Pole | 5 shots | |
| Triton Pole | 4 shots |
A Fisherman's Potion makes Fishing Expertise "pretend" to be a lower level during 1 hour. It's used to fish lower-level fish, for example a specific quest chest or the fish color you want. To use it you need the Expertise at the indicated level.
| Potion | Requires Expertise | Fish become level |
|---|---|---|
| Lvl. 3 | ≈ 2 | |
| Lvl. 6 | ≈ 5 | |
| Lvl. 9 | ≈ 8 | |
| Lvl. 12 | ≈ 11 | |
| Lvl. 15 | ≈ 14 | |
| Lvl. 18 | ≈ 17 | |
| Lvl. 21 | ≈ 20 | |
| Lvl. 24 | ≈ 23 | |

As soon as the line drops, the server already rolls the fish:
Objective: bring the fish's HP to zero before the timer runs out. The fish alternates between two states, and each state calls for a skill:
With Luminous lures (night) the fish appear Upper Grade. Every once in a while they pretend the state: the window shows the fake HP warning and the icon suggests the wrong skill. The bar rule still applies. If it's rising on its own, the fish is regenerating, and the right skill is the "fighting fish" one.
Train here before going to the water. The rules are the same as the server's: 2 s cooldown, 30% state change, 10% failure and regeneration while the fish fights.
| Result | Condition | Message |
|---|---|---|
| Caught | The fish's HP reached 0 | You caught something! |
| Lure stolen | HP reached the double of the maximum (too many mistakes) | The fish took your bait |
| Dropped the hook | The time's up (24 to 35 s, depending on the fish) | The fish spit the hook |
| Monster! | 5% of catches outside peace zones | You caught something smelly and scary… |
There are 27 levels of fish, grouped into 9 colors. The level comes from your Fishing Expertise: to catch blue fish, for example, you need Expertise between 7 and 9.

Fish are stackable items. Give double-click to open a fish; each one has a chance to give some of these materials. Higher-level fish give more items and better quality.
At the NPC, in "Sell fish", each material becomes an amount of Proof:

Upper Grade fish scales are exchanged for 100% recipes for head accessories, like Pirate's Eye Patch, Monocle, Lady's Hair Pin, Outlaw's Eyepatch, Maiden's Hairpin, Forget-me-not Hairpin and Daisy Hairpin. Each recipe costs between 100 and 150 scales of three different colors.
Four fishermen craft elemental lures that only fish up chests. Each quest requires 100 materials of a specific monster. The baits are used for quests 27–30.
| Quest | NPC | Requirement | Material (×100) | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 50 · Lanosco's Special Bait | Lanosco · Dion | Lv. 27 · Expertise 8 | Singing Wind · Windy Hill (north of Gludin) |

| 51 · O'Fulle's Special Bait | O'Fulle · Giran | Lv. 36 · Expertise 11 | Fettered Soul · Death Pass |
|
| 52 · Willie's Special Bait | Willie · Oren | Lv. 48 · Expertise 16 | (Elder) Tarlk Basilisk · Forest of Outlaws |
|
| 53 · Linnaeus' Special Bait | Linnaeus · Aden | Lv. 60 · Expertise 21 | Crimson Drake |
After finishing the lure quest, the same fisherman reveals that the lure was made to find a lost chest of a client. Fish the chest with the elemental lure, deliver it closed to the fisherman and take the contents to the owner.
Every week the Fishing Guild rewards whoever catches the biggest fish. Every fish caught is measured automatically and, if it's among the biggest, it enters the ranking. See the ranking at "Fishing Contest" at any fisher or on the ranking button of the fishing window.
